The tech company owned by the multibillionaire entrepreneur said it was "waiting for coverage or regulatory permission." Starlink announced that it will begin to focus on, among other towns, Nairobi, Kisumu, Mombasa, and Nakuru over the three months ending in June.
Kenyans can, however, order the service and deposit Sh12,260 ($99), which is entirely refundable if accepted. "Place your order right away to hold a Starlink. Starting in Quarter 2 2023, as it awaits regulatory authorization. Orders are filled on a first-come, first-served basis inside each coverage region, the corporation stated on its website.
Safaricom, the top Internet service provider in Kenya, has invested billions of shillings in constructing its fixed-data network to connect homes over the past five years, as demand for online streaming services like Netflix has increased.

Current Internet service providers mostly provide connectivity through fiber optic cables, Wi-Fi, and cellular networks, unlike Starlink, a spinoff of Mr Musk's space technology firm SpaceX, distributes Internet via satellite.
Starlink employs satellites to give global broadband Internet access, similar to how the global positioning system (GPS) provides location data to cell phones throughout the world. Unlike GPS, Starlink technologies takes thousands of satellites to provide uninterrupted operation.
According to the company's website, "Starlink's high-speed, low-latency service is made possible by the world's biggest network of highly advanced satellites operating in a low orbit around the Earth."
